ASD and The Sensory World
With the introduction of the Dyad of Impairment, sensory difficulties are now considered during the diagnosis process for Autism Spectrum Disorders. This course will explore our Seven senses, what it means to have a Hyper or Hypo active sense and how we can make changes to the environment to support those who present with these difficulties.
This course will cover:
- The Seven Senses
- Hyper vs Hypo Active senses
- Sensory overload
- Arousal States
- Supproting those with Sensory Difficulties
Who is this course for?
Although this course is helpful for staff working directly with those with Autism it can also be helpful for anyone working in a caring role or a school environment. Sensory issues can affect a wide range of disability, including learning difficulties/disabilities.
