Please note at all times throughout the session parent(s)/carer(s) are responsible for their children.
Who can attend these groups?
The groups are designed for children with or suspected of having Autistic Spectrum Disorders aged up to 13 years old (14 years old discretionary) and to be attended with their parent(s) / carer(s) and siblings. We encourage anyone with anyone with social communication difficulties (ASD, ADHD, Sensory difficulties etc) to attend The groups are laid back informal events where we aim to provide a welcoming, safe and consistent environment with clear boundaries and expectations.
What will be on offer at your support groups?
At our groups we aim to : -further develop and improve their communication, sharing, turn-taking, co-operative and social skills through a range of art and craft activities, cooking, tabletop games and physical activities; -learn to improve and control their behaviour; -meet like-minded children and young people and develop a greater understanding and acceptance of their condition We offer a range of art and crafts activities at our groups, as well as a selection of toys and a food activitiy, and where possible and weather permitting outdoor activiites. Parents and Carerse opportunity to share experiences and talk about caring for a child(ren) and young person with Autism with others in a similiar position.
How are you making this group Covid Secure?
We are aware that many of you will still be apprehensive wround Covid-19 but we have done our best to make the support groups as safe as possible fro both yourself and your childre/ytoung people. ASD Helping Hands has: -Consulted the venue owners and discussed their risk assessment in detail -Provided Hand Sanitiser and instructions on how to keep Covid secure -Limited the number of people who are able to attend -Wash and sanitised where possible all toys, activity items, cutlery and mugs -Constently reassess our measures to ensure we are making the enviroment as safe as possible
What guidelines do I need to follow with regards to covid-19?
We ask all attendees to: -wear face coverings when insiode (except for those with exemptions) -Sanitise your hands before entering the building -Regularly wash your hands espically before and after touching any equipment, toys or cutlery/mugs -Book your places online and only book if you are able to attend - those who have not booked will unfortunatly not be able to enter -Provide your contact details on entry for Track and Trace purposes. These will be kept secure and processed in line with our data protection policy and be used for no other purposes.
