Detailed description

Purpose of the Role

To support and help facilitate youth-focused projects and social groups for autistic and neurodiverse young people, creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help run and supervise sessions at groups such as the Family Support Group or Teen Social Group, or other youth projects we design and deliver.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with young people.
  • Assist in setting up, delivering, and packing away activities.
  • Support young people to participate, build confidence, and have fun.
  • Work alongside staff and other volunteers to maintain a safe and inclusive space.

Time Commitment

  • Flexible depending on the group or project. Sessions are typically held evenings or weekends in community venues.
  • Volunteers can commit regularly or support occasional events/projects.

Person Specification

We welcome volunteers who are:

  • Passionate about supporting autistic and neurodiverse young people.
  • Friendly, reliable, and patient.
  • Good communicators and team players.
  • Committed to inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Experience in youth work or SEND is helpful but not required.

Support & Requirements

  • Full training provided
  • Volunteers must complete an Enhanced DBS check (we will support this process)
  • Ongoing guidance and supervision provided
